Etsy Fees FAQ
What Etsy charges a seller, in one place. Every rate here was read from Etsy’s own help centre, and every rate that Etsy does not publish is marked as such instead of being filled in with a guess.

How much does Etsy charge per listing?
Etsy charges a flat $0.20 USD per listing, and it is charged whether or not the item sells. A listing expires after 4 months; if it auto-renews (either because it expired or because it sold out and the quantity was not restocked) Etsy charges another $0.20. Editing a listing that is already live is free.

What is Etsy's transaction fee?
The transaction fee is 6.5% of the total order amount in your designated listing currency. The base includes the item price, the shipping you charge the buyer and any gift wrap you charge. It does not include sales tax or VAT, which Etsy collects separately.

What is the payment processing fee and how much is it?
Payment processing is charged on top of the 6.5% transaction fee. It is a percentage of (item price + shipping + any buyer-paid sales tax) plus a flat fee per order, and the rate depends on the country of your payment account. For a China account it is a single rate of 6.5% + $0.30 USD per order. For a United States account it is 3% + $0.25. The Australian, Canadian and New Zealand tables are split into domestic and international orders. Etsy does not publish a single rate that applies to every country.

Is there a currency conversion fee on Etsy?
Yes - 2.5% of the sale amount, charged when the currency of your listing differs from the currency of your payment account. It is subtracted from the sale amount before the money reaches your account. You can avoid it: list in the same currency your payment account uses. Etsy only supports depositing USD into Payoneer, so a USD listing currency avoids the fee entirely.

Does Etsy take sales tax or VAT from my income?
In the jurisdictions where Etsy is the marketplace facilitator, Etsy collects sales tax or VAT from the buyer and remits it to the tax authority. That money is not part of your income, so the transaction fee base excludes it. The rates differ by jurisdiction, and the tax obligation that lands on you as the seller depends on where you are established - both are set out in the fee model the calculator uses.

What are Offsite Ads and what do they cost?
Offsite Ads charge a percentage on orders that came from an ad outside Etsy. Shops with under $10,000 of revenue in the last 365 days are charged 15% and can opt out; shops at or above $10,000 are charged 12% and must participate. The fee is capped at $100 per order, and an order can be attributed to an Offsite Ad for 30 days after the click. Note that Etsys own articles disagree on the base - one says the order total, the other says the amount before the advertising fee was applied. We use the order total, the more conservative reading, and the calculator lets you switch.

How do I get paid on Etsy, and what does that step cost?
Etsy deposits your balance into Payoneer in USD, once a week on Monday. A withdrawal to your local bank typically takes 2-5 business days after you request it. Payoneer then charges its own withdrawal fee and applies its own exchange rate spread - Etsy does not publish either number, so this site does not quote one. Check your Payoneer account for your actual rate, and set the calculator to the fee you see there.

Is there still a handling and package fee?
No - the option to charge handling and package fees was removed. Etsys article does not state the removal date clearly enough for this site to quote one, so no date is given here.

What do I actually keep on a sale?
Less than the price minus the fees, and the gap is bigger than most calculators show. On a $25 pair of earrings, the transaction fee, the payment processing fee, the listing fee amortised over its sales and the Offsite Ads fee together take roughly a fifth of the order - and that is before the Payoneer withdrawal fee, the exchange rate loss, returns, and advertising.
